What’s New
# Monitoreal Desktop Guard 2.0 — what’s new since 1.2
Compared with the first release (1.2), version 2.0 is a redesigned application with a new navigation shell, several new sections, full multi-language support and a large number of reliability fixes. Highlights first, then the full list by area.
## Highlights
– New desktop-style interface: persistent sidebar navigation (collapsible to an icon rail), new visual style, dark theme, adjustable font size.
– Local-network mode: one-click LAN connection to the appliance, automatic fallback between cloud and LAN, and a fully working local-only mode when the cloud is unreachable.
– Live view rebuilt: up to 4 remote / 9 local streams in the camera grid, audio, volume, talk-down to IP speakers, enlarge/fullscreen, camera reordering and 2/3-column layouts.
– Video archive: clip cutting and download, playback speed, recorded-day calendar, “by object / by rule” timelines, watermarked downloads, HEVC recordings play natively.
– Complex Scenarios, proximity radius, zone editor, rule templates, relay and audio actions in the rule editor.
– New sections: Licenses, GMS access, appliance account (profile & password), bulk camera management, in-app pairing wizard, add camera by search or manually, connect by IP.
– Built-in self-update on macOS, Windows and Linux.
– 11 languages, with every screen, notification type, role and permission translated.
## Interface
– Sidebar shell replaces the bottom tab bar: MONITOR / CONTROL / SYSTEM groups, avatar → profile, collapsible to a 64px icon rail with the MR badge.
– Brand refresh: Montserrat typography, new palette, stroke icon set, redesigned cards, pills and dialogs on every screen.
– Dark theme, font scaling (100–130%), datetime format follows the appliance (or your own choice).
– Dashboard: resizable split between cameras and Recent events (persisted), 2 ↔ 3 column camera grid, drag-and-drop camera order, “Manage cameras” dialog.
– Appliances page reworked: sortable list, favourites, appliance dropdown in the header, connect by IP, add appliance by network scan.
– Larger default window sized so the events filters fit on one line in every language.
## Connectivity & reliability
– One-click local login: the cloud sign-in is handed off to the appliance on the LAN — no appliance password prompt.
– Automatic LAN detection (mDNS on all interfaces) and automatic local connect; seamless fallback to the cloud when the LAN transport drops, and local-first recovery on wake.
– Local-only mode when no signal server is reachable: previews, snapshots, seen/unseen and events all work over the LAN.
– TURN relay support with the GMS credential scheme; TURN can be switched off on the Profile page.
– Sleep/wake reconnection overhaul, connect-stall watchdog, camera-stream retry on ICE failure, WebSocket-reopen self-healing, cross-account login stall fixed.
– Non-owner cloud accounts can connect (offer authorisation source is detected automatically).
– Token handling on the LAN follows the appliance’s single-live-token rule; no more refresh storms or “works on the second try”.
– Offline-appliance error screen with retry; honest “connected via cloud / LAN” label.
## Live view
– Live tiles inside the camera grid with enlarge/shrink, double-click fullscreen, per-tile volume slider and audio on both the main and pooled connections.
– Talk-down to the camera’s IP speaker from the tile and from event rows; the button is greyed when no speaker is assigned; first click connects.
– Up to 4 simultaneous remote streams (9 locally), with a stream counter and limit hint.
– Snapshot-only cameras no longer offer Live; blocked playback (macOS Low Power Mode) shows a Play button instead of a black tile; accurate “no video arriving” detection with Retry.
## Events & archives
– Recent events: camera and type filters (incl. unknown motion, scenario satisfied/cleared, PPE), hide service messages, seen/unseen button, camera name + appliance-local time on every row, endless scrolling past the cache, All-appliances scope with a confirm-switch dialog.
– Event actions per row: report, snapshot, video, live, talk; thumbnails open a full-size viewer.
– Events archive: drafts-then-Apply filters, seen filter, event types per appliance capabilities, “All detections” mode over the whole detection archive, snapshot and report downloads with progress.
– Video archive: single-window player, timeline by object or by rule, day / all-data period, recorded days bold in the calendar, playback speed 0.5×–3×, cut & download a clip, download progress, HEVC recordings play natively.
– Watermarked video downloads (archive and event clips), correct in light and dark footage.
## Cameras & detection
– Add camera: network search and manual add (RTSP/HTTP), camera credentials, editable camera name, IP/MAC shown for manual cameras.
– Camera settings: tooltips on every item, capture source, record-when profile, recording source, IP speaker, Deep Sight, detection doublecheck, error reports, numeric bounds with inline validation, appliance-wide resolution budget bar, sync date/time and daily reboot for discovered cameras, Reboot/Update actions.
– Zones: correct camera/rule zone scoping, WUI colour scheme (type + trigger method), region display settings, edits saved only on Save.
– Rules: relay and audio actions (up to 5 per event), 24-hour time window, translated object list, minimum confidence and tooltips, rule names shown consistently.
– Complex Scenarios (licensed): list, builder with templates, condition zones (whole frame / camera zones / draw a new zone in a dedicated editor), proximity radius with illustrated tooltip, inline validation, Refresh.
– Bulk camera management: recording on/off for all cameras, event save policy for rule profiles, apply selected settings to several cameras with a per-camera result.
## Appliance administration
– Appliance Settings page rebuilt to WUI parity: system information, firmware check/update with progress and stuck-update handling, restart/recover/reset, service status with live container logs, backups, NTP sync, timezone and date format, LED and hardware controls shown only when supported, appliance clock shown in its own timezone.
– Network: Ethernet and Wi-Fi configuration, hidden SSID join.
– Relays: pairing, editable and translated names, channel control, input rules as a collection, 1-channel relays shown correctly.
– Audio: speakers and IP speakers, audio files upload (chunked over the data channel) and playback with an explicit output selector.
– Schedule: WUI-parity rules incl. one-time date+time+action entries, clear validation messages.
– Alerts: every notifier channel fully functional (Telegram, Slack, email, webhooks, Sentinel, Immix, EyeMax, iVIS, Ksenia, FTP with multiple destinations), masked secrets, enable/disable a whole category, Pro integrations by appliance product line.
– Users & roles: user CRUD, role editor with translated permission catalogue, Editor/Viewer permission view, mobile invite links, appliance account card (edit profile, change password).
– New: Licenses page (activate by ID with preview, sync, buy/extend via the Partner Portal); GMS organisation access (grant/revoke); Mobile and Desktop Apps sessions management; in-app device pairing wizard.
– Role-based access: screens and actions the current role can’t use show an explicit “access denied” panel instead of empty lists or 403 errors.
## Updates, branding & diagnostics
– In-app self-update from the website manifest on macOS, Windows and Linux (signature verification, atomic swap, rollback, per-platform build numbers).
– OEM branding: name, logo, accent and bar text colours, legal and release-notes links, default first-launch language, build-time app icon — all behind a hashed service password; reset to defaults.
– Diagnostics: app-wide operation log (frontend and Go side) exportable as a bundle with the save path shown; connection diagnostics; Advanced settings page (URLs, Partner Portal URL, WebRTC source type) behind the service unlock.
– Signed and notarised macOS builds (universal Intel/Apple Silicon), Windows portable build and installer.
## Localisation
– 11 languages: English, German, Greek, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian.
– Language switching applies to the whole UI; every notification and system-message type, object class, relay name, role, permission, plural form and uptime is translated; wording files are plain JSON for easy editing.
– Every timestamp is rendered in the appliance’s timezone with the zone label.
